The Bonjour Akaroa tour

A taste of Akaroa.

Explore Akaroa harbour's hidden treasures while learning about our unique history and geology as we visit some of our local award-winning producers and take in the tranquil surroundings and gorgeous vistas as we go.

Banks Peninsula has many small boutique organic vineyards and it is inside the cosy French Peak cellar door or on a nice sunny day in a lovely courtyard overlooking the vineyard where you will taste some of their organic wines.

Tasting of French Peak wines include:

  • Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rose and Gewürztraminer

  • Tasting platter of local produce to accompany the tasting - smoked salmon, cheeses, pates from local butcher and other local seasonal produce.

  • Optional walk through French Peak Vineyard to learn all about bio-dynamic techniques, soil health and organic growing on the Banks peninsula.

  • Visit Old french Road Olive Grove and see what it takes to produce award-winning olive oil and other products.

  • Scenic photo stops and commentary as we go.

  • Gin tasting at the Akaroa Gin distillery to discover how local plants are being incorporated to make unique gins.

  • You taste, we drive; and as we go, it makes for an afternoon delight.

1.30pm to 4.30 - 5pm

Akaroa Experience Package

Banks Peninsula from Sea to the Land

Starting with a thrilling harbour cruise to discover Akaroa's wildlife and history, you will then be taken on a journey to taste some of Banks peninsula award-winning local produces including cheese and wines to finally finish the day with an aperitif at Ma Maison restaurant overlooking the water.

2.30pm to 6pm

Following your thrilling harbour cruise, it will be time to relax and open up your taste buds at French peak vineyard with Renan. There, either in its cosy cellar door or on a nice sunny day in a lovely courtyard overlooking the vineyard, you and your group will discover some of the award-winning local produce of Banks Peninsula with wine tasting and a platter to share including cheeses, smoke salmon, cured meat and more seasonal produces.

 

Your guide will tell you why those produces are so exceptional and all about the processes of how it is all gown and made. And if you would like you can ask to stop on the way back to meet the producers behind it and purchase these goodies.

You will finish the day with a cocktail specially made for our tour by award winning Ma Maison restaurant on the waterfront. This cocktail is a taste of Akaroa and a nice way to end you afternoon with a glorious view.
